Getting that right is not a side task. It affects how quickly you can mobilise, whether the labour inspector signs off, how many workers stay through the season, and what your client sees when they visit.

Start with the Numbers: How Big Does the Camp Need to Be?
Most camps are sized wrong at the start — too small, so workers double up and leave, or too large, so money sits in empty rooms. A simple way to plan it:
- Beds: Count peak-month workforce, not average. Bangalore projects typically peak during the dry months (November to May) when structural work runs fastest.
- Space per worker: Plan on roughly 35–45 sq ft of sleeping area per worker in a dormitory layout with bunk beds. A 40 × 10 ft block gives you 400 sq ft and sleeps 8–12 comfortably; a G+1 block doubles that on the same footprint.
- Toilets and baths: Work on one WC for every 20–25 workers and one bathing point for every 15–20, with separate blocks for women workers, however few. Under-providing here is the single most common reason a camp fails inspection and the most common reason workers walk off.
- Kitchen and dining: A canteen is expected once you cross a couple of hundred workers; below that, a covered cooking shed and a washing point are the minimum. Either way, keep it downwind of the dormitories and away from the toilet block.
- Everything else: A supervisor's room, a first-aid room, a store for materials and gas cylinders, drinking-water points, and — if women with young children are on site — a creche.

What Bangalore Projects Have to Comply With
Worker housing is not unregulated, and Bangalore's labour department does inspect. The main rules that shape a camp in Karnataka are the Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) Act and its rules, the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, and — for larger or longer-term sites — local municipal and fire requirements for temporary structures. Between them they expect, broadly:
- Free temporary living accommodation near the work site
- Clean drinking water within easy reach
- Latrines and urinals in adequate numbers, separately for men and women
- Washing and bathing facilities
- A canteen above a certain headcount
- A creche where enough women workers are employed
- First-aid provision
- Basic ventilation, lighting and fire safety in the sleeping blocks

- Moving with the project — A metro package or a highway stretch moves along its alignment. Every block has lifting lugs and can be relocated to the next camp site in a day.

3. Do the blocks need a foundation?
No foundation — a level pier, plinth or compacted base is enough. On black cotton soil we specify piers to keep the blocks level year-round.
4. Can you provide the drawings for our labour-welfare submissions?
Yes. Block plans, unit drawings and material specifications are part of every camp order.
5. Can we rent instead of buying?
For some project durations and sizes, yes. Tell us the project length and headcount and we will offer both options.
6. What happens to the camp when the project ends?
It moves. Every block has lifting lugs and goes to your next site on a trailer. If you would rather not keep it, ask us about buy-back.
7. Do you handle water, drainage and electrical connections?
We supply the internal services, tank stands and connection points and lay out the drainage. Mains water, power and sewer or septic connections are done by your site team or a local contractor to our drawing.
8. Is there a minimum order?
